Heroes of Zagrath

(2020)
The adventure-fantasy game Heroes of Zagrath invites up to 5 players to explore a mad vampire's castle, moving tile by tile as they encounter wacky choice-based scenarios. They must work together quickly to overcome these monsters and obstacles- earning fantastical item cards for the final boss battle.

My Roles

Game Designer: 

  • Wrote all narrative cards including scenario cards and monsters.  This includes flavor text, player's possible choices, creature health, creature damage, and creature abilities.

  • Heavily focused on balancing combat with a focus on the treasure cards, monsters, and boss battle.  I did so by utilizing google sheets for comparison and rebalance as well as extensive play testing.

  • Added time constraints and balanced out the exploration phase vs boss battle phase.  This was incredibly important as it allowed players to have enough potential treasure to survive the final stage.

Head Illustrator

  • Illustrated all cards (Excluding card backs) and most trailer graphics with Adobe Photoshop.

Production Assistant

  • Used agile workflow to handle team scheduling and meetings through Discord and Zoom.

  • Organized and created promotional videos with Adobe Premiere Pro.

  • Wrote an extensive Game Design Document, Playtest Summaries, and presented and compiled work with Google Suites.
